In Forum took part over 250 representatives of Ukrainian scientific and educational establishments and information providers and companies from Ukraine and other countries (the USA, Poland, Russia, United Kingdom etc.).
Within the framework of the Forum 4 sections functioned: Electronic information resources for science and education: the use and access; Open access to information: problems and prospects; Ukrainian information society development; Electronic resources formation and information service development in libraries.
At the plenary meeting salutatory speech was delivered by the Head of the Supervisory Board, the President of Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation in America, Mrs. Martha Farion; Tetiana Yaroshenko, project executive director, National university “Kyiv-Mohyla academy” information support vice-president and scientific library director presented a report “Project ELibUkr “Electronic library: Knowledge centers in Ukrainian universities”: First year”, that attracted participants’ interest. At the project ELibUkr open annual conference, which held on the 8th October, more than 50 participants were present. The Head of the Supervisory Board, the President of Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation in America, Martha Farion talked on the project development prospects. The coordinator of the project in Ukraine Oksana Bruy presented portal ELibUkr (http://www.elibukr.org/), its structure and development plans. David Bishop, Executive council member, project expert, Northwestern University (the USA) library director (1992-2006), shared his vision of portal development with the presents. About project implementation told also ELibUkr coordinators in participant universities: Oleh Shiliuk, Chernivtsi national university scientific library deputy director, Iryna Zhuravliova, Kharkiv national university Central scientific library director, and Viktoria Voropaeva, Donetsk national technical university library-information center director.
Within the framework of the section 1 “Electronic information resources for science and education: use and access” Olexiy Vasiliev, president of Consortium “Informatio” – project participant, conducted a masterclass “How to organize and efficiently conduct test access to electronic resources”.
